Thanks to the translators for the time they spend on KaraFun !

If you think you've found mistakes or if you have a better translation for one or several strings, we would appreciate that you contact the language maintainer.
Thank you for your participation !

Tips for translators
  • Is my translation up-to-date ?
Click the "Test language" button in the Options window, near the languages list.
  • What about this wired syntax in LNG file @xxxxx|yyyyy ?
It's a reference to another string. See below for more details...
  • How to make a reference to another string ?
Sometimes the same string appears in the software more than one time. You can copy the string, but the best way is to make a reference to the first string.
The main advandate is that there is only one string to maintain.
The syntax for referencing a string is @SectionID|StringID
  • What about the ?T? before the string ?
It's simply a string which is not translated!
These three characters are followed by the original string in english.

Other languages are welcome!

If your language is not listed and if you want to translate KaraFun. Here is the way to do it :
  • Browse the Language directory of Karafun (C:\Program Files\KaraFun\Language by default). It contains LNG files. Each LNG file contains all the strings that are used in KaraFun.
  • Copy English.lng TO a new file called your_language.LNG
  • Edit with notepad (or another text editor) this your_language.LNG file
  • Set your name as "Maintainer"
  • If you use notepad (or any other editor with that function) DISABLE the automatic carriage return!
  • Set the LanguageDescriptor Name to "YourLanguage"
  • And then, you have to translate all the strings... (yes, we know that there is a lot, but it's possible...!!!)
Some strings have "%d" or "%s" in it, that's parameters, these fields will be replaced dynamically in the software. If there is several parameters, you must keep the same order for parameters. You can edit the other LNG language files to have more examples.
When your are done, KaraFun will detect the new created LNG file and will add it to the available languages, so you can test your work.

When your language file is perfect, you should contact us...
...Email the LNG file to support@karafun.com to become an official translator !

When a new release is ready, a few days (or hours) before the official launch, we will send you an email with the added/remplaced strings. So you can send us back the strings and we'll update your LNG file. You've also access to a beta version of the release, prior to all the other users.
After the new version is out, if you find something wrong, you can tell us and we will change it for the next release (or release a hotfix if it's more serious).

KaraFun is now fully unicode

KaraFun is now fully unicode, a new "CodePage" parameter appears in some [LanguageDescriptor] section.
If you don't set it the Codepage 1254 (Standard Latin-2) is used.
More info about codepages : http://www.microsoft.com/typography/unicode/cscp.htm
The special code 65001 is the code page for UTF-8 encoded, it's used to add more unicode languages to KaraFun like chinese or japanese.
Hope to see YOU on the translators list soon!
