Minimum configuration

  • PC Windows 2000, XP, Vista (95, 98 and NT are not supported).
  • DirectX 9.0c. Download the last update of DirectX...
  • Screen resolution of 800 x 600
  • Pentium 3 at 850 Mhz
  • 256mb RAM
  • Direct3D video card with 16mb RAM
  • Sound Card

  • Screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or better
  • Pentium 4 or better
  • 512mb RAM or better
  • Direct3D video card with 64mb RAM or more and MPEG video playback support

    • Troubleshooting

    You should know that most of problems come from old or bad drivers.

    If you have display problems, download from the vendor website the latest drivers of your graphic card:

  • NVidia chip: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
  • ATI chip: http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
  • SIS chip: http://download.sis.com/

    • Also update your sound drivers, if you have no sound output (midi or audio).


    DirectX Diagnostic Tool

    A diagnostic tool comes with DirectX, it's installed after you setup the latest version of DirectX. In order to be sure that your system will support KaraFun, you'll have to run that tool.

    Select "Run" in the start menu and type "dxdiag.exe".

    If it doesn't work, you must know that this executable file should be in C:\WINDOWS\System32. If you can't locate it, DirectX is surely not installed in your PC. Download and install it first.
    In the Display menu, you can check the video memory. It's important to have more than 16Mb of video RAM (32Mb or more is highly recommended!).

    The most important requirement to run KaraFun is to have a Direct3D support, check if the "Direct3D acceleration" is enabled.

    If you doesn't meet these two conditions, you'll probably have to upgrade your PC.
