Select the "Background management" track. In the properties (on the right), there are 3 parameters:
Color is the background color (default color is black). Click on
and select a new color. If you want to set an image as background, this parameter is useless.

Image : This picture from the library covers the background. The library contains all the elements of your project (audio source, images, fonts, etc).
Click on and add an image to the library (JPG, PNG or BMP file).
You should respect the 4/3 format (its size can't exceed 1024 x 768 pixels). The editor stretches the image to use all the background.
Close the library and select your file in the combobox.
Filter color: allow to apply a filter color to the background (use it with parsimony!).
Note: When you move the mouse over the parameter labels, they turn to blue and become underlined. A little explanation is displayed in the status bar.
Right click on the "Background management" track and add an event. Then click on that event and add the effect "Change the filter color" to the event list on the right.
Select a new color for the filter, and set the time, in seconds, for changing the color of the filter (fading time).
Place the bar time cursor a little bit before the event and press the space bar to see the result.
Note: The effects of an event are active until the end of the song, or a forthcoming event. This remark is valid for any kind of track and event.
