Make your first karaoke track...

You have just installed the latest version of KaraFun! Did you accidently click on the "KaraFun Editor" icon in the Start Menu (or right click on the player, and "KaraFun Editor...")? And now, your are lost in virtual space?
Don't panic! Follow this little tutorial which will show you how easy it is to make your own karaoke files with the KaraFun Karaoke Editor...

Introduction: Editor's layout

In addition to the menus, the tool bar (icons) and the status bar (at the bottom), there are three specific aspects to the editor:

  • On the left, the realtime preview of your karaoke.
If your PC seems to slow down too much (not everybody has the latest GeForce gfx card!), you can stop rendering the preview using the F4 key, and refresh it manually with F5.
  • On the right, properties of the selected track, event or effect.

  • At the bottom, two time bars, under which are displayed the different tracks of your project.
    - The first time bar (above the numbers) represents the total duration of the audio track.
    - The second one represents the enlarging of the karaoke part in seconds and hundredths of seconds. You can enlarge this display with the four zoom levels (+ and - key or with the magnifying icon). It will be very useful to have more precision when attempting to perfectly complete your synchronization (we will talk about this shortly!).
    - Then comes the "Background management" track which allows you to modify the colors, the images and the filters applied to the karaoke background.
    - At last, the "Vertical text" track which is divided into two 'subtracks' : the text and the events relative to the display of this text.

Note: The tool bar and the status bar can be hidden by unchecking the related items in the display menu.

  • Don't forget to save your work after each step!
Select Save in the File menu and choose a name for your kfn file.
Then, remember to use the Ctrl+S key shortcut for the next file saving...
