|
|
Like other users, I've run into the issue of window focus when using KaraFun and other applications in full-screen multi-monitor mode. The workaround I've used is to simply drag the output window onto the second screen, and resize it as large as possible (using a TV as my second screen I can't quite fill the whole screen, but it's probably 95% as large as a full screen).
The only problem with this approach: when I click the stop button, then play another file, the output window jumps back onto the first monitor, and I have to drag it onto the second screen again. My workaround for this: rather than click the "stop" button, I try to remember to click "pause" instead. This way, the output window remains open in the second screen.
A suggestion for a quick patch to help us multi-monitor users: either 1) an option that forces the output window to remain open after clicking the stop button, or 2) an option to "lock" the position of the output window even after pressing stop. I would think this should be relatively simple to implement while you try to fully correct the direct3d/full screen/losing focus issue.

| @ raysizemore, that’s a good idea, what I’ve done is set my wallpaper to use the same black & blue background image that is seen when KaraFun first starts a song, I also made a custom Preset file (*.kfp) that also uses that same background. So you don’t notice anything but a second of flickering when the song stops on the TV, you always see the same image. I also went a step further and incorporated my ATI Remote Wonder to control all the functions in KaraFun by using the shortcuts, and other commands that are programmed by a remote control application called UIce. I’ve made up a custom Preset in UIce that changes my monitors resolution to 800x600 & my TV’s resolution to 720x480 for larger KaraFun controls on the monitor, and better fullscreen appearance on the TV. Next my WallMaster wallpaper changes to that black and blue image. Then loads a 250MB MIDI SoundFont for better sounding MIDI instruments. Next with the kX Project third party Creative soundcard drivers, it sets up the kX audio mixer so that the levels are the way I want. It also lets me have a separate real-time reverb for the microphone, and a separate one for the MIDI instruments, and allows recording of the MIDI instruments also while performing the song. The final Uice command launches the KaraFun program, and I’m all setup to record Karaoke, or just sing. One button press of the UHF Remote Wonder, remote does all this, or I can also use a keyboard shortcut. I can then use the remote anywhere in the house that has a TV to control KaraFun, transport controls, and song selection. Yes, I’m a man and I love my remotes, and full-automated control of anything I can, if only I could get a girl friend to let me wire her up. |

| I'm still having the problem with the second screen (S-Video) - I can drag the window onto it, but when the track finishes and I play the next, it repositions back to the main monitor. Other than this, I'm liking what I get with karafun combined with KJ File Manager. |

| To fix this problem, use the 'Current Settings' in the display options ( on the second monitor obviously ). |

Hi,
Unfortunately, I cannot use your suggestion, as I do not have a second monitor but rather am using the SVideo output of my notebook. Doing this, there is no second monitor setting available in the UI.
I really hope you can add a patch to allow keeping the playback window open between songs, as I am almost certain this will fix the problem, since if I queue a new song before the last is finished, the window stays open and in the same position on the extended desktop if the TV screen. |
