Can anyone help me please?
I cant hear myself live on speakers. I can record myself though. I have checked on control panel and I have the microphone selected in audio tab. I also checked in volume control, I make sure the mic is not in mute.

I can see the audio bar moving when I speak through the mic but my voice does not come out of speaker.

I am not using DELL PC by the way as there seems to be solution for Dell PC users. Unfortunately I cant do the same as you dell users can do on regedit.

I did hardware test and on the test strangely I can hear myself on speaker when I speak. (2nd test or playback test)

I am using sb live 24 bit, logitech usb microphone, windows xp pro.

Many thanks

In the properties of sound you should see playback devices, listed in playback devices will be speakers, the speakers need to be able to recognise the microphone as an input.

If you cannot see your microphone listed here, then you will need to check the registry on your computer search for:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This will hold the values for audio on your computer, however the values will change depending on your sound card etc. in my case the value I needed to change was in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\AD1981\Disable

MicV had a binary value of 01 by changing this to 00 it enabled the microphone in the speakers and all is well.

You will need to make a note of any changes you make as you may need to reverse the changes, you will need to reboot the machine for changes to take effect.

Good luck rummaging.
