|
|
Hello dear colleagues!
May I introduce myself: my name is Stefan and I’m new to the forum.
I’m a KJ and do Karaoke shows since nearly five years now.
I came across the KaraFun Studio Editor because I found out that the videos available at karaoke-verson.com were created with this intriguing piece of software.
I want to create such good looking and ingenious videos also for my shows.
Since I’ve been using another CD+G creating software for five years I’m familiar with all the synchronization stuff.
From reading the FAQs and looking at this forum I got many clues and hints how to use the editor.
I found out how to use videos, backgrounds, vertical text, classic karaoke text; even MilkDrops won't be a problem at all.
But there are still some things which are unanswered and I hope somebody here can help me out.
1. how can I change the length of a synchronized word? I know how to change the position - but for words that are sung very long I would like to extend the lenght. How can I do that?
2. "Instrumental bar" and countdown - how can I create such a bar? Especially how can I prolong the length of the synchronization?
And how can I create the countdown? Do I have to add a second layer of "classic karaoke text" and how does it work?
3. "Starting bar" - how can I create such a indication when a word should be sung?
4. Title image - off course I want to "brand" my videos with my own title image (example of Karaoke-Version seen in the picture). But is there a function to do this automatically by just entering the required data or do I have to create each time a new image (Photoshop) for each title?
5. Naming of the original singers - how can this be done?
The last point I think I have found out for myself, but I just want to have a confirmation.
6. Duets and "bubble text" - I suppose for duets I have to add a new text track, copy the text and/or syncs and alter the color of the second track; and for "bubble text" I have to add "vertikal text", do the syncs and adapt the colors.
OK, that were a lot of questions. But I hope that anyone "out there" will have answers (and I think other users also will have these or similar requests).
Thank you very much for your help!
CU!
Keep on singing! |

I agree with all your questions, and thought that maybe the secrets would have to be kept by Karafun for copyright etc. but would love to do all of the above questions as that was the whole purpose of buying the full package so I could do a better job. one one thing I was able to edit the karafun information page so I had my own logo in there, I won't say how just yet as karafun may not like that - but if they don't mind then I will reveal what I did.
but any other hints that people can give would be great. especially timing as something simple as one word at the end of a chorus, you'd like it to slowly show the word to show how long the individual continues the word.
Hope everyone looks and puts something here, else what else is the purpose of the forum (not a place to complain surely) |

Hello Kalel6002!
Thank you for your reply!
Off course I want to use the knowledge that will be hopefully given here in this forum only for my private use and exclusive for my karaoke shows.
I definitely won't sell videos I created this way to any other person or company because that will be a violation of copyrights.
So why shouldn't KaraFun (or any other persons) share their knowledge with us?
If on the other hand KaraFun has a nondisclosure policy so that they can keep their standard for videos for themselves then I suppose we are on our own to find out these "secrets". But I would understand this procedure.
So again my question: if anyone out there can help Kalel6002, me and other fellow combatants we would be very thankful!
Kind regards,
Stefan |

you have to buy the lic for use with commercial business use.
i don't have the studio so i can't tell you about your
2,3,4 questions
but you can change the preview screen of the video if you want to change what is used to show how hard it is.
just go in to the folders and find the images used for those and change them to your own wanted ones.
make them the same format so the karafun player can pick them up. then you can use them for your videos you make.
you might do the others like that too? not sure on them.
but on the original artists name just add in some blank space before the song starts in the sync line and put the name in there.
you can also make the song's longer held out words show slower by using the syllable splits which are showed on the lyrics adding pad in the editor. use them and stretch the markers in the sync line to where they would be put. the words will be shown in proper links to the music or live voice track.
Stefans would be like
Stef/ans that would make it split in to two words but said together just move the markers for them to the location the notes are at or the word is said. so in the text line you would see
Stef a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a ans depending on how long they held the word. i don't remember if the extra letter a's have to be there or if they are just nice to show the singer that they are to carry the letter out. no just remembered the extra a's are just for the singer to see visual that the word is to be sung like that, you don't need them. but they will prevent the singers in the bar from just singing stef and then shutting up for thirty seconds. and trying to say ans like it was another word instead of a syllable.
i have done this many times it is also shown to you in the example songs with the instrumental track dots being left on the screen in some of the songs.
the video's of the songs can only be done in the studio version of the program.
you would have to make a moving background in the free version like a gif file lots of frames and all changing with in 0.2 seconds of each other. I've done that too it looks alright but not as good as the video's.
and it's locked in to the number of frames you made for the background so it repeats if you used a low number of them. _________________ roving cowboy / keith hall.

just remembered the answer to number 4 of your questions.
make an image you want for the title.
then you can save it in your folders someplace so you don't forget where its at.
then when you are making the kfn file you can add it in as the first picture with silent space and you can have it as long as you want to it wont change until you make a marker to change it to another image for the kfn file background. you could also put the karafun name in your image just to make sure it is known what program is used.
of course this adding in of images will need you to have silent space in front of your songs for the time you want the image / images seen before the karaoke starts.
so if you want the brand to show for 3 seconds then you need that long of silent space on the music file.

oh forgot the answer to your question number 6.
yes your correct change the colors and fonts. i think there is a dual lyrics sync line in the studio version, but i have done this in the one sync line for lyrics it is very touchy in the one line so i hope you have two lines for syncing lyrics,
some dual parts and duets can't be done unless there are two sync lines for lyrics.
email me i'll find my wmv i did this too that i can send to you for in sight. rovingcowboy at hotmail dot com _________________ roving cowboy / keith hall.

Hello rovingcowboy!
Thanks for your explanation!
I'm sorry that I forgot to mention that I purchased the "Home Version" of KaraFun Studio!
So I'm able to use background videos, pictures, different texts, MilkDrops, a.s.o.
And I'm also able to convert the .kfn files I will create to videos (AVI or WMV). And exactly these videos I want to host since I am also using Swift Elite (4.0) for many years.
Don't get me wrong - KaraFun is absolutely fantastic but I'm familiar with Swift Elite and don't want to change because my whole show is based on this hoster.
And for MP3+Gs I'm using "Power CD+G Creator Pro" from Doblon. With this programm you can easily extend the sync of a syllable/word just by "click&drag" - I don't know why this is not possible in KaraFun editor.
The method of repeating single letters with a separator "/" will surely work but it's a little bit sort of "MacGyver-ism"! But I will try this.
With the "Creator" I also do the title image with a silent space at the beginnig of the backing track.
One additional thing "rovingcowboy": I'm proud to say that I'm really not bad in english but I can't get quite the meaning of your lines:

For all other answers: thank you very much! I will try and will keep informed the forum.
CU,
Stefan |

no troubles i know it's hard when you don't speak the language.
i sent you all the German i know in that one wmv file i sent to you.. well i know a few more words Munich , dumkauf , danka , hamburg , and thats about it.? i can't spell the other words i know when i hear them.
as for your needing more explanations on those statements i did. here it is.
| Quote: | but you can change the preview screen of the video if you want to change what is used to show how hard it is.

the image that shows up just before the karaoke song.
is the one that tells you how hard the song will be for either male or female singers.
in side the programs folders you can find the folder those images are stored in.
all you need to do in order to change them is make your own images in photo shop, and save them to the same image format as the ones in the karafun folder. so if you find the images are originally .bmp's then you should save your images as bmp's so there won't be any mistakes by karafun when it looks for the images to be used.
maybe karafun wont know to use any tiff images and if you save your images in the tiff format then karafun wont find any when it trys to show them.
and i don't know if you can do the images in your questions numbered 2 and 3. that same way or not. _________________ roving cowboy / keith hall.

2.
Instrumental bars and countdowns are reserved to us.
We've developped a special tool for them.
It's a little bit too complicated to be added on KaraFun Studio.
3.
Starting bar is automatic.
But you've got to have a long enough silence before the word to see it appears. _________________ Nico - KaraFun & Karaoke Version team |

Hello Nico!
Thank you very much for your answers! I will respect your policy regarding the instrumental bar and countdown.
Instrumenal bar: I've found a way by using special characters ( █ ), separating them with "/" and synchronizing this bar.
It's not exactly the same solution as you have and it looks not nearly as good as yours, but it will do for my purposes.
Countdown: here I've found a way using another layer of "classic karaoke text" with the single numbers, setting the colors for active and inactive to the same and synchronizing them.
But what you said regarding the starting bar: how long has to be the silence before this happens? Is there a checkbox in the settings of the editor where I can choose this function? I've done a test synchronization but it never worked with my settings.
And one last question (#1 from my original post): is there really no easy way to extend the length of a sync of a syllable or a word by just sliding the ends of the sync via mouse?
Thank you very much for your help! |

i get the meaning you are after now with that sliding.
yes you can slide the sync'ed note in the line by left click and dragging the line. (sorry i know its a song title.) but that won't show you the split word on the screen the only way to show the split word is with the / bar,
you can also select all or part of the sync marks at once and drag them if they are slightly out of sync with the notes of the music or the voice words.
however there is no way to drag the voice track or music track to make the words carried out. (which is what i was thinking you wanted to do, the first reply to you. sorry ) _________________ roving cowboy / keith hall.
