AVI files do not play with karafun

When i try to execute a avi file with karafun it opens the window but instantly closes that window. with mpeg files i do not have that problem. I have the latest codex installed and the latest direktx. I have a quad core cpu with geforce 8600gts videocard. when i try to play these avi files with mediaplayer or bsplayer there is not any problem. Does anyone have a idee? I already tried it on a different computer but with the same result
