Hi. Nice program. Works very well for media files. Price is great!!
My issues are with CD+G disc support. I have read through the forums and have found v1.10a (the version I'm using) to be able to support "some" drives. My current observations are as follows:
ATAPI - PIONEER DVR-109 : Plays CD+G discs (some stuttering/skipping; disc needs to be loaded in the drive before starting KaraFun; changing discs means restarting KaraFun; other applications require "deinterleave" mode)
ATAPI - LG GSA-H22L : No joy with this drive at all (but works with other applications using "deinterleave" mode)
SCSI - PLEXTOR PX-R820T : No joy with this drive at all (but the drive has native CD+G support!!! )
SCSI - PIONEER DVD-303F : No joy with this drive at all (and I don't expect any)
Above drives stating "No joy..." won't even populate a regular audio CD in the library much less a CD+G disc.
Someone else had stated that ejecting a disc during playback caused a lockup of KaraFun requiring "End Task" through windows task manager. I can corfirm this to be true.
So to me it looks like the application is not using any ASPI or SPTI layers for drive access. I'm not a programmer so I don't know how this might be implemented. Anyone else having success with SCSI drives?
My ATAPI drives do work (even for burning/ripping) with other applications using a "deinterleave" mode for drive communication, but with KaraFun I only get the PIONEER DVR-109 to work (about 95%) correctly.
I'm not here to pick apart the software. I really think it's a fantastic application. I only hope to provide some feedback to help make it better in the future.
Thanks for allowing me to post this here.
