studio freezing!!

I have just this day purchased Karafun Studio and it freezes as soon as I open up. Before I even do anything! Not only that, but it's causing the standard version of Karafun and the editor to do the same aswell! What's going on?!

It could be a hardware problem.
Have you checked your sound card and graphic card drivers ?

How do you mean checked them? What do I need to check specifically? I just realised aswell that when it freezes, each kfn file loses its data, and I lost most of my projects that I spent ages syncing!

By checking I mean see their dates. But to be sure the best is to download them from the builder website and install them.

The data that you loose were new and unsaved ? Or was it old data that suddenly disappear from the files ?

I will check the drivers, but to be honest, I edit video on this machine for a living, it shouldn't be a problem. In terms of the dataloss, the files remain but when the application freezes, whichever file was in the editor has all its information lost - with the exeption of the background image sometimes staying. All lyrics, music etc is erased.

sounds like your computer is locking because of heavy ram use? is there an av program that runs all the time like avg that sits in the system tray?

it might be trying to check the kfn file because you are trying to change it.
thus making the avg program think something is going on that should not begoing on.

media monkey has had troubles with avg and zone alarm not reconizing the media monkey files at times maybe those programs are messing up karafun also?

you say you edit video on that computer then you know you need huge amounts of ram. but karaoke takes more ram because it needs to hold the lyics and sync's and all the events you add in a text file until you save the kfn file.
when adding video that too needs to be held until you save the file.

media monkey once again to use that program as an example is also having some issues with holding text edits in a text file until it is saved.
adding ram and getting winXp seem to help with that. so maybe your system for you use needs a min amout of ram that is higher then 1 gb?

if you can't put more ram on your system then try closing all the un needed programs that run in the background like msworksmontier.exe
and other update monitors that just sit there waiting for when you go online.
they are a pain in the butt because they waste ram just sitting there.

if you done all that but did not get more ram then get the more ram.
i have 768 mb's in this winXp home and it is not enough to play 3d games. it barely allows me to use windows picture it. i get one image edited in that program before it crashes for lack of ram.

the loss of your previously edited lyics from the kfn file in the editor is because the editor had opened the kfn file and was holding the info in a temp file. when the program crashed the temp file was deleted because
karafun did not have enought time to resave the kfn file's info and close.

i think this is an ongoing trouble in ms software. as said before media monkey has this trouble and windows picture it has this trouble now karafun studio has this error, there are possible other programs that i don't use that are also showing this crashing loss of data from the editing process.

only thing to try is the suggestions above or look for other programs that might conflict with any editing program.

i hope jaile and his devleopers can find a way to fix it in karafun.
but off hand the way i know ms would answer is to tell you to buy windows vista.
and that is because i believe they send out updates to their os. that cause errors just before they release a new os. it has appared this way ever since win3.1 which has made me believe they do that just to make us buy
their new system.
