computer freezes when running karafun 110A

Hi I am using an AMD 1 Ghz pc with 256 mb of ram. My OS is Windows XP professional. My video card is an NVidea GEForce2 MX/MX400 with 64 MB of Ram. Karafun runs and shows a few lines of the song then it freezes my PC. I noticed that when I run karafun my PC usage immediately goes to 100 percent and stays there. I can play DVD movies with no problem so I think my PC and graphics card are working well. I have DirectX 9.0C installed and windows media player 10.

Any help would be very appreciated.

I am not very far from your configuration :
I am running Karafun on an 1200 MHz AMD Athlon, 768 MB of ram.
My video card is an ATI 7500. It is good enough in standard video works, but less with Karafun. It's normal.

The problem you experience may be caused by running KFN files made from midi or kar files: Windows software midi synth will add a lot of cpu usage.

Even with MP3 audio file, you may experience serious problems if your graphics card is not 3D and I think yours is not.
So your cpu will have to draw a lot of things by itself.

What to do then ?
1) run kfn made with MP3 and not Midi/Kar (first ones are about 3 to 5 MB, second ones are some hundreds KB only)
2) try another graphics card
